Expansion|From a 40-Day Launch to Global Rollout: Wellington Expands Its Performance and Talent Management System with aTalen
Following the launch of its initial performance management project in July 2025, Wellington College Education (China), hereafter referred to as Wellington, has expanded its partnership with aTalent. The project, initially introduced for the Centre Office, will now extend to employees across Wellington’s global organization.
The expanded scope includes:
- Centre Office employees
- Non-academic members of the Senior Leadership Team
- Academic teams
By moving from an initial implementation to a global rollout within six months, Wellington is bringing campuses, teams and employee groups into a more consistent talent management environment. The expansion will establish a shared foundation of data and processes for global talent development and organizational capability building.
About Wellington

International Education Built on the Heritage of a British School
Wellington College Education (China) represents an important part of the international education network associated with Wellington College, a leading British school with a history spanning more than a century. Its schools in China are located in cities including Shanghai, Tianjin, Hangzhou and Nantong.
Known for premium international education, multicultural learning environments and a commitment to holistic development, Wellington brings together faculty and staff from more than 40 countries and regions.
As its education network continues to develop, the organization must manage increasing complexity across campuses, employee groups, and academic and non-academic structures.
Wellington therefore sought a more unified and modern talent platform that could connect performance processes across its organization, support the long-term development of faculty and staff, and enable a more systematic approach to organizational capability building.
Phase One

Launching in 40 Days and Establishing a Repeatable Foundation
During the initial phase, aTalent and Wellington adopted a phased implementation approach. The core performance management processes were configured and launched within 40 days, supported by a clearly structured project plan.
Following the implementation, the Wellington team highlighted three aspects of the experience: delivery efficiency, ease of use and responsive support.
-
“The entire project was very clearly structured and highly efficient.” Each stage followed a defined path, cross-team collaboration was smooth, and the core performance processes were launched within a short timeframe.
-
“The system was easier to use than we expected.” The platform’s interface and logic were intuitive, allowing different user groups to understand and adopt it quickly.
-
“The aTalent team was highly professional and responsive.” From solution discussions to detailed refinements, the team provided timely and practical support throughout the implementation.
The first phase addressed Wellington’s immediate performance management requirements while also validating the platform configuration, implementation approach and cross-team working model. This created a repeatable foundation for extending the project to additional campuses and employee groups.
To date, project kickoffs have been completed at seven schools in China and overseas, including campuses in Tianjin, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Nantong and San Francisco. The global rollout has now entered full implementation.
Global Expansion
Moving from Selected Employees to a Connected Workforce System
Based on the results of the first phase, Wellington decided within six months to expand the project from selected employee groups to faculty and staff globally, bringing academic teams and non-academic management into the same platform environment.
Through this expansion, campuses and employee groups will gradually adopt more consistent performance processes and management frameworks, while retaining the flexibility required for different roles and organizational contexts.
Beyond performance management, Wellington has also outlined plans to introduce a broader range of talent modules in the future, progressively connecting performance, capabilities, employee development and talent management.
aTalent provides an integrated platform spanning performance, skills, development and talent management. This breadth and scalability were important considerations during Wellington’s initial selection process and provide a foundation for the partnership to evolve from a performance project into a longer-term talent management system.
Experience in Education

Supporting Multi-Campus and Multi-Role Talent Environments
Before partnering with Wellington, aTalent had already supported a number of international universities and schools, including:
- University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC)
- Dulwich College
- The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK)
Compared with many corporate environments, international schools and universities must often manage a distinct combination of requirements: collaboration across campuses, parallel academic and non-academic structures, highly international employee populations, and complex roles and permissions.
Through its continued work in these settings, aTalent has developed experience in designing implementation approaches around the operating structures of education institutions. This enables organizations to establish a consistent management framework while preserving the flexibility required by different campuses, teams and employee groups.
From Rapid Implementation to Long-Term Talent Development
Wellington’s journey—from launching the first phase in 40 days to beginning a global rollout within six months—illustrates how a talent management platform can progress from an initial implementation to broader organizational adoption.
A structured implementation plan, an intuitive user experience and continued delivery support allowed the results of the first phase to be extended to more campuses and employee groups. The platform’s broader talent capabilities also provide a long-term foundation for Wellington to connect performance, capabilities and employee development.
aTalent will continue to support Wellington throughout the global implementation. It will also build on its experience in the international school and higher education sectors, helping more education institutions develop performance and talent systems suited to multi-campus operations, international workforces and long-term organizational growth.
